"Black Book" is a card-based adventure game with elements of RPG. The story takes place in the cold north of Russia, in the village of Vasilisa, where a young girl named Vasilisa is on her way to becoming a witch. She has to throw away her chance to marry her love, but first of all she needs to find the secret of why the loved one died. On her way, she has to face many challenges, meet many characters and solve many riddles. The main characters are: Vasilisa, the main heroine; her friend and mentor Masha, the witch who teaches her how to perform magic; a character named Kolyav, who is a master of Russian folk tales; and the evil demon called Black Book.
